Tshwane FM presents VC with Station of the Year award

Celebrating campus media excellence, the Tshwane FM management team formally presented its Station of the Year award, won at the 2025 Telkom Radio Awards, to TUT’s VC, Prof Tinyiko Maluleke.
Congratulating the team, Prof Maluleke, TUT’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, said the recognition also brings responsibility. He urged the station to remain disciplined, work even harder and continue raising standards to sustain its success. He emphasised that consistent excellence depends on teamwork, accountability and a shared commitment to quality.
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Spokesperson, Phaphama Tshisikhawe, highlighted the importance of institutional support in building student-focused media excellence. The award recognises Tshwane FM’s growth, innovative programming and strong connection with the University community and the City of Tshwane.
Tshisikhawe added that Tshwane FM is a key communication platform for the University and a training ground that produces industry-ready graduates who represent TUT widely in the industry.
Station Manager, Tebogo Jacko Magubane, thanked the University’s leadership for its continued support.
Speaking on behalf of the station, he said the award belongs to staff, students, alumni and listeners and reaffirmed the station’s commitment to innovation, transformation and service.
Looking ahead, Tshwane FM aims to consolidate its gains, expand its digital presence and continue telling authentic stories that reflect the voice of the University and the city it serves.
